During the holy month of Ramadan, the Chef Middle East team, in cooperation with the UAE Food Bank, Oman Food Bank and Wahab, respectively, provided 1,000 iftar dinners throughout the UAE, Oman and Qatar as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility. The initiative aims to provide food support to those in need during the holy month and spread the spirit of generosity and kindness.
Keeping in mind the company’s commitment to reducing food waste and giving back to the local communities, the meal kits were prepared using ingredients from Chef Middle East’s local markets, ranging from rice and meat to juices, spices and more. Ingredients were donated and special menus were crafted to allow the meal kit recipients to break their fast with a traditional yet nutritious and delicious meal.
Chef Middle East’s members came together to demonstrate what the organization stands for: teamwork, kindness, compassion and a responsibility toward their local communities.
Maria Gibson, head of HR at Chef Middle East, said: “We recognize the significance of giving back to the community, especially at this time of year. This initiative reflects our commitment to positively impacting the communities in which we operate while focusing on food waste management. Our employees are passionate about getting involved, and it is a testament to the shared values of Chef Middle East and the local food banks who made this possible.”
Chef Middle East was able to reach those in need and distribute meals in a safe and efficient manner across labor camps, student camps and community gathering areas by partnering with local organizations in each of the three countries.
The initiative was met with a positive response from the community and local entities, who expressed their gratitude for the support.
Wardah Mamukoya, the founder of Wa’hab, said: “It was a pleasure working with the Chef Middle East team. While many break their fasts among lavish Iftar spreads, we are pleased to have partnered with Chef Middle East in contributing to a community iftar to capture the real Ramadan experience.”
Chef Middle East’s Ramadan Iftar Meals campaign is one of many community-focused activations on their agenda for 2023. The organization intends to expand its collaboration with local organizations and actively work toward adopting a more sustainable approach to the way they conduct business and manage product expiry exposure in the best way possible while keeping the local community and the greater good at the center of everything they do.
