Established in 2005, Nagi Sfeir and Associates (ns&a) is a Lebanese design firm that handles corporate, residential, private and large housing units throughout the Arab world and Europe. This year, the company won the ‘Interior Design Apartment Award’ at the Arabian Property Awards 2019-2020, one of the region’s most prestigious industry events. The ceremony took place at London’ Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.
The Awards are open to residential and commercial property professionals from around the globe. The awards are split into regions covering Africa, Asia Pacific, Arabia, Canada, Caribbean, Central & South America, Europe, UK and the USA. The highest-scoring winners from each region automatically become eligible to compete in the international awards category, which ultimately determines the world’s finest property companies.
Companies received awards for categories ranging across property development, real estate, interior design and architecture. Chosen from over 200 entries spread across the Arab world, ns&a nabbed the prize for their high-end Swiss-looking mountain chalet. The design process and execution have been done with ns&a design and supervision team in order to achieve the desired level of finishing and details.
The aim was to create a warm and welcoming place where friends and family could meet to spend relaxing weekends around the fireside in winter and the poolside terrace in summer.
A structural column in the center of the space was removed and replaced by a structural ‘H’ beam drop, covered in wood. This has opened up the space beautifully and enabled a chimney element to become the centerpiece of the chalet. By demolishing the existing stairs and relocating and replacing it with steel structural elements, a special relationship has been created between all floors, both physically and visually. Natural materials such as wood on the walls, solid stone floors and stone bricks around the bar all add to the chalet’s stylish yet homely ambiance.
ns&a projects cover all aspects of design across the construction and planning process. They are located in Lebanon as well as in some Arab and European countries. ns&a have just finished a boutique hotel in Oman for the Royal Court and opened a new market in Africa, as they have initiated the complete design and procurement process for a 300-room hotel in Lagos due in 2022.
