Marriott to open Moxy Hotel in Downtown Cairo in 2029

Marriott International Inc. has announced the upcoming opening of a Moxy Hotel in Downtown Cairo. Scheduled to debut in 2029, Moxy Cairo Downtown will infuse the city’s vibrant downtown district.

Moxy Cairo Downtown will be part of a major adaptive reuse project within the historic Lazoghly complex, formerly home to the Ministry of Interior’s offices. The redevelopment project will transform the complex into a multiuse hub.

“There is growing demand for lifestyle hotel options in Downtown Cairo and Moxy Hotels will be a fantastic addition to the city’s hospitality scene with its vibrant and stylish experience,” said Shady Hassan, VP – North Africa at Marriott International. “We are excited to collaborate with Reliance Ventures to introduce the brand’s dynamic social spaces and engaging programming at an appealing price point.”

Magdi Kassabgui, chairman of Reliance Ventures, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are thrilled to work with Marriott International to bring a Moxy Hotel to our mixed-use Lazoghly project. This development aligns with our vision of creating an urban community where business, education, and entertainment intersect. It represents Reliance’s commitment to revitalizing Downtown Cairo as a premier tourist destination.”

Amr Elhamy, CEO of TSFE Tourism, real estate and antiquities subfund, added: “We are excited about the transformation of the Lazoghly complex and the introduction of Moxy Cairo Downtown. This project aligns with our goal of repurposing significant architectural and heritage assets to rejuvenate the area. Moreover, the new Moxy Hotel will cater to the growing trend of experiential and lifestyle travel.”

Furthermore. Moxy Cairo Downtown will feature modern, stylish rooms and suites tailored to suit the needs of today’s adventurous travelers. Furthermore, design plans include a fitness center, vibrant public areas, a fun grab-and-go concept and communal tables for social interaction and connectivity.

Moreover, located in Downtown Cairo, the hotel will occupy a prime position close to the city’s iconic landmarks.
