Nestlé Professional Middle East, an expert in helping foodservice operators grow their businesses with creative, branded beverage and culinary solutions, announced the winners of the sixth edition of Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat. It is UAE’s longest-running culinary competition. The winning pair, Savio D’souza and Babu Ram Bhusal, will go on an all-expenses paid trip to Singapore to attend Superfood Asia Exhibition held in April this year.

Aimed at professional chefs between 18 and 30 years of age in the UAE, the competition is a platform to showcase one’s culinary talent and to advance one’s career. The competition attracts young, enterprising chefs who receive an opportunity to network and connect with their peers, learn valuable skills and receive recognition from industry leaders.

Teams compete in pairs of a pastry chef and a hot kitchen chef, representing their respective hotels, restaurants or catering establishments in a multi-stage competition. Held over a period of 12 months, Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat evaluates teams across three stages, with top eight teams contending for the national champions’ title at the final round of a live cook-off at the International Centre for Culinary Arts (ICCA) Dubai.

The judging panel for the final round comprise members of the Emirates Culinary Guild and one representative of Nestlé Professional Middle East. The live cook-off requires teams to prepare one main-course dish and one dessert using Nestlé Professional ingredients and are evaluated across the main criteria of ‘mise en place’ and cleanliness, tasting, presentation and correct professional preparation.

Roger Frei, Business Executive Officer at Nestlé Professional Middle East said, “Every year, Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat UAE draws young chefs with strong determination, unparalleled passion and unique talents from around the country. We remain committed to providing a platform to reward the best and the brightest talent in the culinary industry. The seventh edition has now begun and we are looking for brilliant young chefs who want to compete and show their passion.”

Boasting a strong portfolio of specialized beverage systems and food solutions, Nestlé Professional Middle East works together with businesses in the food and beverage industry to solve their operational challenges.
