Maki Restaurant Group scores stellar win at HORECA Kuwait 2019

Ten of the group’s chefs who participated in the country’s most prominent annual B2B hospitality exhibition emerged victorious. Salon Culinaire, one of the exhibition’s events, where all the top chefs from Kuwait participate in various cooking competitions, saw Maki’s chefs crushing the competition. These highly-talented chefs won the gold, silver and bronze medals in the Live Sushi-making and Asian Cooking competitions.

Commenting, the group’s award-winning executive Chef Louis Kenji Huang said, “I am very pleased with the development of our young chefs, which has been evidenced by their medal count.” Co-founder and Managing Partner, Amer Zeitoun added, “We are very thankful to the founder of Leaders Group Nabila AL Anjari and Mohamad Najia, the group’s GM, for giving local and international chefs the opportunity to hone their skills and to shine during the competition. We are so proud of our 10 chefs for winning all 10 medals, which reflects their positive creative spirit and our core philosophy of innovation. We are also proud to have had one of our chefs be awarded the coveted Boecker Food Safety and Hygiene Award.”

Founded in Kuwait in 2002 by brothers Amer and Mohamad Zeitoun, the restaurant has since seen the Maki Group operating 4 locations in Kuwait and 1 in Bahrain. The brand is also a leading innovator in the contemporary Japanese cuisine domain. The restaurant was listed in the Michelin Guide the year it opened its branch in London followed in 2018 with the opening of its first franchised unit in Doha Festival City, Qatar.

She is currently the Publications Executive of Hospitality News Middle East, Taste & Flavors and Lebanon Traveler.
