Jihane Feghali honored with Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole Français

Jihane Feghali of La Ferme St Jacques received the Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole from H.E. Hervé Magro in May 2024.

Jihane Feghali, managing partner of La Ferme St Jacques, the Middle East’s first and only foie gras and all-duck production facility, was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole on May 31, 2024. The French ambassador to Lebanon, H.E. Hervé Magro, presented the award at the Residence des Pins during the event.

In an exclusive statement to Hospitality News ME, Feghali said: “This is a great honor for La Ferme St Jacques, a pioneering social project that creates valuable work opportunities in rural areas, thereby fostering community ties and preserving local heritage. Simultaneously, it plays a pivotal role in showcasing and advancing French culinary art in this region of the world. This distinction is deeply meaningful, as it not only honors me personally but also recognizes the contributions of La Ferme St Jacques. Moreover, it symbolizes France’s appreciation for the agricultural practices in Lebanon. We proudly stand as the sole production facility of our kind in the Middle East.”

She added: “Our journey has been enriched by the knowledge shared by French experts who graciously imparted their savoir-faire during their visits to Lebanon. Additionally, our experience has been shaped by the dedicated breeders who provided invaluable training in France.”

La Ferme St Jacques, based in Lebanon, is the Middle East’s first and only foie gras and all-duck production facility. The farm manages the entire process, from breeding to transformation, processing, and distribution. It has established a strong presence in Lebanese and regional markets.

The French National Order of Agricultural Merit honors individuals who significantly contribute to agriculture. They can earn this recognition through agricultural practice, related industries, public service, scientific research, or agricultural publications.
