Italian star-chef Antonio Guida debuts restaurant in Abu Dhabi

Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi, has announced the opening of a new culinary experience. Talea marks acclaimed two-Michelin-starred chef Antonio Guida’s first restaurant outside Italy.

The new restaurant presents guests with the opportunity to enjoy a highly curated selection of seasonal and authentic Italian menus in an elegant yet lively setting with a vibrant open-show kitchen.

With deep roots in southern Italy’s Puglia region, Guida honed his talents at an array of celebrated Michelin-starred restaurants. In 2015, he led Seta at Mandarin Oriental, Milan, to attaining its first Michelin star just four months after opening, with a second Michelin star shortly after.

Talea’s menu draws on Guida’s distinctive culinary style to create “Cucina di Famiglia” – family-style cooking. From handmade ravioli, authentic spaghetti alla carbonara and artisanal pizza to osso buco and vitello tonnato – the summer dish of chilled veal in tuna-caper sauce that forms an indispensable part of the Assumption Day feast in Milan — the gastronomic delights of Talea fuse traditional techniques with an innovative edge.

The restaurant’s interiors highlight two-toned columns and walls layered with art inspired by the landscapes of Italy. An outdoor terrace is also available for a decadent alfresco dining experience.

“With our concept of ‘Italy meets Abu Dhabi,’ I am delighted to offer Talea’s patronsa new culinary experience that presents a new interpretation of Italian favorites, along with some rare and unusual combinations,” said Chef Guida.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with chef Antonio Guida at Talea, further enhancing our culinary offerings at Emirates Palace. Talea combines the flavors of Italy with the scents of Arabia, setting a new benchmark for Italian cuisine in Abu Dhabi,” said Michael Koth, general manager of Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi, and area vice president of operations for the Middle East.
