Thomas Flindt GM of Sheraton Bahrain

With a contemporary design that fuses natural beauty with sustainable aesthetics, Sheraton Bahrain celebrated a significant milestone when it reopened last month. Indeed, the hotel has reemerged with a renewed commitment to luxury and sustainability, as Thomas Flindt, the property’s general manager, explains.

What were the major challenges you faced during the renovation process?

A number of challenges arose during the rebuild and renovation process, particularly due to Covid-19 affecting material availability and timelines. For example, many materials had longer lead times because of freight shortages, and freight options became more expensive during this period. However, aside from these logistical issues, there were no significant or unusual challenges, just the typical hurdles of rebuilding.

What can guests experience at the newly renovated Sheraton Bahrain?

The space is very accommodating and comforting, with abundant daylight flooding practically every corner of the public areas, creating warmth. Additionally, the rooms are bright, modern and thoughtfully designed, offering a welcoming atmosphere that enhances the overall experience. Moreover, the innovative food and beverage offerings elevate the dining experience, introducing unique flavors and creative options for guests.

How will you cater to the new-age traveler?

The new look of the physical property is very modern, featuring soothing colors and large open spaces that enhance comfort. Moreover, the hotel is anchored in Bahrain, with every piece of artwork, from paintings to sculptures, created by Bahraini artists. In addition, the property minimizes printed materials, instead offering a convenient QR code to access relevant information or place orders. This digital approach not only modernizes the guest experience but also aligns with the hotel’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

What are your plans for the property?

To ensure the whole world knows that the iconic Sheraton Bahrain is back in business, we are launching a global campaign. Additionally, we are activating Sheraton programs, such as Gatherings by Sheraton, designed to engage both hotel guests and the local community. These initiatives aim to create memorable experiences, fostering connections while strengthening the hotel’s presence within the broader community.
