Samyukta Nair, founder of LSL Capital, talks expansion into the UAE

LSL Capital represents a curated collection of restaurants that seamlessly blend tradition and innovation in hospitality. In this exclusive interview, Samyukta Nair, the company founder, talks about its expansion into Dubai.

What can you tell us about LSL Capital?

LSL Capital, which I co-founded with my father Dinesh, represents a collection of restaurants that prioritize bespoke hospitality experiences. Transitioning seamlessly between tradition and innovation, our carefully curated portfolio reflects a deep commitment to delivering excellence and authenticity. Moreover, each restaurant within our collection is meticulously designed, embodying our passion for cultural appreciation and hospitality.

While our focus is on luxurious dining, we also aim to create unforgettable experiences that reflect our family’s rich heritage. Furthermore, each project we undertake is truly a labor of love, offering guests something genuinely special.

What distinguishes your concepts from others in the industry?

What sets our concepts apart is our unwavering commitment to detail, ensuring every element contributes to an exceptional experience. Each project is born from a deep cultural understanding, combining personal experiences to craft a truly authentic dining atmosphere. Moreover, we focus on creating environments where exceptional food, thoughtful design, and warm service blend harmoniously. This dedication to integrating tradition with modern sophistication elevates our concepts, offering dining experiences that are both memorable and meaningful. Ultimately, it’s our passion for authenticity and excellence that distinguishes our concepts in the hospitality industry.

What inspired you to expand into the UAE market with Jamavar Dubai?

The UAE’s dynamic and diverse culinary scene genuinely inspired us to introduce LSL Capital’s first concept, Jamavar, to Dubai. Additionally, the region’s reputation as a global gastronomic hub, coupled with its love for exceptional food and hospitality, presented an incredibly exciting opportunity. We aimed to showcase Jamavar’s unique holistic approach to Indian cuisine and luxurious yet residential dining experience on Dubai’s culinary stage. Furthermore, at the forefront of our endeavor is our commitment to building a supportive community, similar to what we have in London. This will enable us to share the essence of Indian hospitality with the rest of the world.

How would you describe the restaurant scene in Dubai?

The restaurant sector in Dubai is thriving and characterized by its diverse and competitive nature, creating a vibrant dining landscape. Moreover, the city’s multicultural population drives a strong demand for unique and high-quality dining experiences. As Dubai continues to evolve as a culinary destination, the presence of Michelin and Gault & Millau enhances its prestige significantly. This growth offers opportunities for concepts that stand out through authenticity and excellence in cuisine. Ultimately, the dynamic nature of the market presents both challenges and exciting possibilities for new ventures, making it an exhilarating environment for growth and creativity.

Are you considering expansion elsewhere in the Middle East?

We are thrilled to expand our presence in the Middle East, following the successful launch of Jamavar Doha in 2021. After Jamavar Doha, which opened in the Sheraton Grand Resort and Hotel, we are excited to introduce Jamavar Dubai next. Additionally, we look forward to opening MiMi Mei Fair during Q4 2024, enhancing our culinary portfolio significantly. Located at the Address Residences in the Opera District on The Boulevard, MiMi Mei Fair is right next to Jamavar Dubai. Our Chinese concept is inspired by Empress MiMi’s travels from China, Hong Kong and Singapore to her new home in Dubai.

Furthermore, our portfolio is a collection of restaurants offering bespoke culinary experiences rooted in cherished family memories. While we remain open to exploring new opportunities, our primary focus is on crafting meaningful and memorable stories for our community. As we grow, we aim to deepen our connections and continue delivering exceptional dining experiences that resonate with our guests.
