We took time out with Safdar Badami, CEO and founder of Flava Coffee Co. LLC, and discovered what’s hot and what’s not in the world of coffee.
If you were to introduce your company, what would you say?
Flava is ultimately about delivering better coffee for customers, fueled by my passion for the finest, high-quality produce. Furthermore, our back-end integration with farms and collaborative efforts with farmers have allowed me to bring this vision to life. Moreover, every brew is artfully crafted, showcasing an appreciation for the artistry behind the perfect cup of coffee. Additionally, we ethically source premium beans from across the globe, ensuring exceptional quality and sustainability throughout the process. The beans roasted to perfection are designed to delight even the most refined and discerning palates. Therefore, “Art of Aroma” naturally became our tagline, embodying the essence of our coffee journey.
What have been the highlights of 2024?
We’ve made some delightful blends like Morning Brew, which seem to be resonating well. Furthermore, we launched new coffee machines and developed decaf capsule options to cater to wider consumer preferences. More flavors were introduced in Turkish and Arabic coffee offerings. In addition, we brought in an exclusive limited series coffee set for corporate c-suite gifting. 2024 has been a year full of action and we intend to top it in 2025.
What are your best-selling products?
Single origin coffees from Ethiopia and Brazil have seen a very high demand in the specialty coffee market. Additionally, our in-house blends, carefully curated and roasted by our team, are becoming increasingly popular. Moreover, our Arabic and Turkish coffee offerings are experiencing a significant rise in demand, reflecting the expanding interest. This growth is fueled by our consistent ability to maintain quality throughout the entire process. We take great pride in managing every step, from sourcing the beans at the farm to delivering the perfect cup to our customers.
What is the prevailing trend in the region?
Supply-side bottlenecks have emerged in the industry due to prevailing weather conditions, which have negatively impacted yields in Brazil and Indonesia. Furthermore, some industry giants engage in monopolistic practices that put farmers in difficult situations, an issue we are actively addressing. We are sourcing ethically and striving to make a difference in the broader context. On the consumer side, local audiences are evolving, demanding better coffee, much to the delight of specialty roasters like us. This growing demand for quality coffee further motivates our commitment to ethical sourcing and exceptional brewing experiences.
