Jason Xuereb, General Manager of The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort

Jason Xuereb, hotel manager of The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort, is renowned for his leadership and ability to build high-performing teams dedicated to exceptional guest experiences. His motto, “warm welcomes, lasting impressions, excellence in every experience,” perfectly reflects the atmosphere he is committed to cultivating at the hotel, where we caught up with him for an exclusive chat.

What can you tell us about your professional experience and how you came to Oman?

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with some of the world’s most distinguished luxury brands, starting in Europe. Over time, I advanced to leadership roles in Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi, gaining invaluable experience. In 2019, I took on the role of executive assistant manager at Shangri-La Muscat, where I oversaw food and beverage operations and managed 16 outlets. This position served as a steppingstone to my current role as hotel manager at The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort. At the House of Astor, we are not only setting a new standard of luxury for Oman but also crafting an exceptional St. Regis experience. This experience resonates deeply with our guests, ensuring every moment is memorable and authentically celebrates the essence of our brand.

Oman has firmly established itself as a preferred destination. How will The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort leverage this opportunity to its advantage?

Oman is a must-visit destination and The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort will embrace this growing opportunity. At the House of Astor, we proudly offer the country’s first Guerlain Spa. Furthermore, the resort boasts nine distinct dining venues, including renowned culinary icons like Hakkasan, Novikov Café, Roberto’s, COYA, Em Sherif, Karibu and Zorba. Additionally, the resort offers 162 branded residences, which further enhance its allure and appeal.

What challenges does a new hotel in Oman face?

Opening a new hotel is always a blend of excitement and challenge, particularly when instilling the St. Regis ethos from day one. Building a cohesive culture of excellence, where each team member embodies our dedication to quality, is essential. Furthermore, we are focused on integrating with the local community, ensuring we stand out in a competitive market. These challenges motivate us, pushing us to innovate and continuously improve. As a result, we deliver a guest experience that is seamless, memorable and truly exceptional at every level.

Looking ahead, what are your long-term goals and aspirations for The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort?

My vision for The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort is for it to become a vital part of Oman’s cultural and social landscape: to be not only a destination for travelers but also a welcoming sanctuary for our local community. As the House of Celebration, introducing the St. Regis brand here represents a commitment to creating something lasting. It will be a place where every guest feels valued and at home. This vision balances respect for traditions while meeting the aspirations of future visitors, fostering a sense of belonging that inspires return visits season after season.
