Dubai leads the Middle East’s bar scene

50 BarsThe World’s 50 Best Bars 2022, sponsored by Perrier, were unveiled at a live awards ceremony in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain on Tuesday, October 4.

Marking the 14th year of the list, and the first time it has been revealed outside London, the awards united the global bar community in recognition of the bartenders, bar owners and brands at the forefront of the international cocktail scene.

The World’s 50 Best Bars 2022 featured bars from 26 cities. Barcelona’s Paradiso was named The Best Bar in Europe and The World’s Best Bar. It is the first time this award has been bestowed on a bar outside the cocktail capitals of New York and London.

From creating coasters and bar tools from single-use waste to hosting the first Paradiso Sustainability Summit, owners Giacomo Giannotti and Margarita Sader and their outstanding team have showcased their unwavering commitment to ongoing sustainability, both within Paradiso and the wider industry.

London regained its position as the cocktail capital of Europe, with a total of five bars in the list. Tayēr + Elementary maintained its place at number two, while Connaught Bar scooped the eighth spot and a re-entry from Swift saw it listed at number 30 in the list. There were also new entries from Satan’s Whiskers (23) and A Bar with Shapes for a Name (37).

 

Dubai led the Middle East region with three bars on the list, including Zuma (38), which was named The Best Bar in the Middle East and Africa for the third year in a row. Galaxy Bar held onto its 45th position, while Bulgari Bar, a new addition, came in at number 50.
