Hotel Show Dubai Set to Welcome Over 30,000 Visitors

The 19th edition of Hotel Show Dubai along with the Leisure Show is set to present one of the strongest floors yet encompassing world-class hospitality and leisure along with industry stalwarts that visitors will not want to miss hearing from. The three-day event will take place at Dubai World Trade Center from 16th – 18th September 2018. The Show will be inaugurated on Sunday, 16th September, 10 am at Hall 8.

Taking place at the Hotel Show are two live competitions that have received extraordinary interest from sectors that they are designed for. The Chef’s Table Competition , which has Carrefour as exclusive F&B partner, Diversey as the hygiene sponsor, 1765 Gemini as the tabletop sponsor, Churchill as Tableware & Cutlery sponsor, and Stoelzle as Glassware Sponsor, will see 9 teams from leading hotels in the region battle it out in a timed and stringently judged competition. “There are only three things that contestants should focus on”, says the head judge and President of the Emirates Culinary Guild, Chef Uwe Micheel. “Enjoying the experience, learning something new, and meeting new people. These are the objectives that should drive the participants”.

The 2nd Middle East Housekeeper’s League of Champions has received tremendous response from housekeeping teams in the Middle East. 43 teams have registered for the competition this year which is twice as much as last year. The competition sponsored by Restonic along with Diversey, the hygiene partner and Clean Brands the supporting sponsor has been the most awaited event for 23 year old Madhu who is a housekeeper at Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel who followed last year’s competition on social media. He promptly signed up when the hotel’s executive housekeeper, Pamini Hemaprabha announced the event to her team. “Madhu had his annual leave approved and flights booked which coincided with the dates of this year’s challenge. He requested to reschedule his holidays and incurred the difference to rebook his flight in order to participate in the competition. His excitement is contagious, and I wish my team as well as all other participants best of luck”, said Pamini who is also one of the judges of the Housekeeping Challenge.

The immensely popular ME Hospitality Leadership Forum will commence with a keynote interview with Olvier Harnisch, CEO, Emaar Hospitality Group followed by an insightful session on the ‘Evolving Scale and Structure of Dubai’s Room Supply’ by Philip Wooller, Director for MEA at STR Global. Other sessions taking place on Day 1 are Brand Identity and Worth, OTAs and Hoteliers – the Hotelier’s Perspective, Price Disruption, and Charting the Rise of the Northern Emirates’ Tourism Proposition. The full agenda is available here: https://www.thehotelshow.com/seminars/2018-middle-east-hospitality-leadership-forum/

The second day of the Hotel Show will host a book signing event for ‘Say No’, the memoir of award-winning executive housekeeper Pamini Hemaprabha. During the event, she will read out excerpts from her book highlighting personal and professional incidents which she hopes will inspire the housekeepers in attendance at the Show.
The Hotel Show catalogue is a robust almost 600 exhibitors this year with the supplier lineup ranging from flatware, operating equipment, furniture, beds & bedding, kitchen supplies to spa products that are from around the World along with leading names from the Middle East.

The Italian Trade Association alone will have eight companies, renowned for bespoke offerings and high-quality products, at the pavilion. Gianpaolo Bruno, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, Oman and Pakistan said, “We are trying to bring to The Hotel Show Dubai a wide array of products and solutions for modern hotel design, which interprets the needs of people to make their travel highly experiential with touches that combine the comfort and security of home along with luxury”. Adding some artistic spectacle to the floor is Architect Amjad Al Hajj’s Dubai Clock an elegant 3-meter high glass monument that combines numerical shapes adorned with scattered numbers carefully arranged on glass surfaces and made of steel. And for those who would like some sweet indulgence, Patchi will have a selection of delectable chocolates customized for the hospitality sector which is not available for sale in their boutiques yet.

Going over to the Leisure Show, one of the highlight items on the floor will be a 1965 FORD Mustang Car Pool table. It is the only officially licensed, Collector’s Edition pool table from Ford Motor Company USA. It comes with its own VIN serial number and a Certificate of Authenticity, original working lights, chrome car parts, car rims and tyres which makes it a collector’s pride. The FitHub will host a range of demonstrations and challenges conducted by companies such as Matrix and Johnson Health Technology.

The Pool and Spa Conference at the Leisure Show will host a series of workshops and keynotes on the latest technology that is shaping the pool & spa industry. “When it comes to pool water, there are so many choices now available. Many hotels and resorts are switching to ultra-low salinity pools to provide their guests with a softer, more luxurious experience or mineral water pools to offer a spa-like experience”, says Elena Gose, CEO of Australian Innovative Systems (AIS) who will be giving an insightful talk on ‘Is your pool a ticking time bomb?’

The industry’s foremost properties, projects and people in the region will be honored on Sunday, 16th September 2018 at The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC, Dubai at the seventh edition of the Middle East Hospitality Awards (MEHA). The shortlist features 70 distinct hotels, restaurants and bars that have made their way through stiff competition.

Event Director, Gary Williams said, “For this edition of the Hotel Show, we have invested in live events to create more interactivity between the visitors and the show. We look forward to welcoming over 30,000 visitors, and have a comprehensive event that will cover the latest trends, technologies and developments steering the global and regional industry. I am confident that visitors and exhibitors will enjoy meeting relevant decision makers, and doing business during the course of the Show”.
