Middle East hospitality leaders honored at FHS Awards

Two of the Middle East and Africa’s most respected, influential leaders in the hospitality sector were honored at the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) on September 27.

The FHS Leadership Award was presented to Dr. Amine E. Moukarzel, president, Golden Tulip – MENA/Louvre Hotels Group, and Guido E. De Wilde, hospitality dvisor at Wasl Hospitality, in recognition of their outstanding achievements and unwavering dedication to helping shape the future of hospitality and tourism. The winners were selected by the FHS Advisory Board and key industry peers.
Commenting on his FHS Leadership Award, Moukarzel, said: “I have proudly built up the Louvre Hotels Group portfolio in the Middle East and North Africa, developing, franchising and managing our network, which is second to none. My sincere thanks to our brilliant team and the owners and investors for their continued support and belief in our vision.”
Fellow FHS Leadership Award winner, De Wilde, said: “I have had the pleasure of working in this region for over 20 years and experience the phenomenal growth of the hospitality industry. Working in this highly competitive, dynamic and game-changing market has been and still is a real privilege.”

About the winners

Dr. Amine E. Moukarzel is the founder of Flamingo Hospitality Management and partner of Louvre Hotels Group in MENA. With nearly 40 years in hospitality, he made Louvre the top regional brand and Europe’s second-largest hospitality group.
As the president of Golden Tulip MENA/Louvre Hotels Group, Moukarzel manages more than 60 hotels across MENA, Georgia, and Pakistan. Furthermore, he’s an author and contributor to tourism and hospitality literature.
Guido de Wilde’s 35-year career at Marriott International makes him a respected industry veteran. His hospitality journey started in 1983 at ITT Sheraton. He subsequently rose through the ranks and took on management roles at Starwood and Marriott. His profound understanding of hospitality evolved through international experience in Bahrain, Morocco, Germany, Belgium and Portugal. In 2006, as senior VP and regional director at Starwood, he was instrumental in the company’s regional success. After Marriott International acquired Starwood in 2016, he assumed the role of COO for the Middle East.

She is currently the Publications Executive of Hospitality News Middle East, Taste & Flavors and Lebanon Traveler. It is with ultimate devotion for her magazines that she demonstrates her hospitality savoir-faire.
