IHG Hotels & Resorts has expanded its training program to include core learning content in eight additional languages, making it a truly global resource for the hospitality industry and early career workers worldwide.
Last October, the IHG Skills Academy, a virtual learning platform, was established in the United Kingdom. It was created to help break down the barriers to education.
Available in Arabic, French, German, Japanese, simplified Chinese, Spanish, Thai and Ukrainian, the academy offers free online education, courses and opportunities for people looking to build their confidence and explore a career in hospitality.
IHG is partnering with the Queen Rania Foundation to support the skills development of young people in the MENA region through the foundations’ online learning platform Edraak. The learning content will be available in both English and Arabic to cater to youth across the region.
Louise Byrne, VP of Global Talent & Diversity at IHG, said: “At IHG, we’re passionate about our industry and encouraging individuals to explore just how rewarding a career in hospitality can be. While we continue to offer work experience opportunities and placements through the IHG Academy at our hotels around the world, we also recognize that our traditional methods of attracting a diverse talent needed a refresh and to diversify, which is why we’ve strengthened the IHG Academy with a truly global skill building platform”.
To support a sustainable pipeline of talent for the hospitality industry, new features are already being developed, which will enable IHG to tailor and fast-track the recruitment process for participants who have completed certain modules and gained badges.
