A successful seventh edition of HORECA Jordan

HORECA Jordan drew in a crowd of more than 9,000 trade professionals from around the region for its seventh edition, which took place at Zara Expo Center from December 7-9, 2021. 

Supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Jordan Tourism Board, Jordanian Chefs Association, Jordan Hotel Association and Jordan Restaurant Association, the popular hospitality and foodservice trade show featured the products and services of more than 100 exhibitors from Jordan, Poland and Greece. 

Thuraya Husseini, chairperson and CEO of the Lawrence & Husseini Consult – the event organizer – said: “Despite the challenging circumstances, we are delighted with the outcome. Once again, we managed to bring the industry together and provide a space for professionals to network and do business.”

HORECA Jordan not only shone a bright light on the latest trends and innovations but also showcased the skills of young chefs, baristas and housekeepers. The culinary competitions were judged by international chefs and experts, including: Mounir Arem, international delegate of l’Académie Nationale de Cuisine; Joseph Asfour, executive chef of Legacy Hotel; Charles Azar, master consultant chef and president of the delegation of L’Academie Nationale de Cuisine Middle East and Gulf countries; Zyad Hilal, corporate executive chef, active member in Kuwait Chef Club and Officier Maitre Rotisseur; Tarek Ibrahim, corporate certified master chef; Yasser Jad, president of the Saudi Arabian Chef’s Association; Sudqi Naddaf, executive chef of the Kempinski Hotel, Mall of the Emirates; and Hossam Soliman, president of the Saudi Arabian Chef’s Association.

As every year, there was also the Bed Making Competition, judged by Osama Abu Shalanfah, Omar Al-Qudah, Lina Mouasher and Motaz Shahin, and the Al Ameed Barista Competition, judged by Adel Daher, Suzan Hallal, Nawaf Khommaiess, James Lynes and Ahmad Merie. 

The HORECA Network currently spans six cities: Beirut, Amman, Kuwait City, Riyadh, Dammam and Muscat. The next event is set to take place in Kuwait in February 2022.
