Monin Cup KSA nears electing a winner

Founded in 1912 by Georges Monin in Bourges, France, Monin has become a global leader renowned for manufacturing high-end gourmet-flavored syrups with more than 150 flavors sold in more than 140 countries. To further promote its products and reward talented baristas, bartenders and mixologists, the brand created the Monin Cup, a biennial competition for young professionals.

The event takes place on the national and international levels challenging competitors to demonstrate their creative skills whilst using Monin products to craft signature cocktails. Over 10,000 beverage specialists from all across the globe have participated thus far.

Returning in its 8th edition under the theme, Mix your Origins, this year’s national competition, Bidfood KSA and Georges Monin France announced will be held for the very first time in Saudi Arabia. All mixologist and beverage specialists from all across the kingdom will have a chance to register online and secure a spot. The winner of the Monin Cup KSA 2019 will be awarded a $2,000 cash prize and become eligible to compete at the international level. Competitors are encouraged to draw inspiration from the best of local and natural ingredients, as well as Saudi culture and cuisine. In addition, each candidate must submit two recipes for non-alcoholic beverages (one cold and one hot) using Monin products.

The Saudi edition will take place over a two-month period to elect the ten best semi-finalists from three regions, namely, Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar. Based on creativity, presentation and charisma, the three regional champions will then compete for the Monin Cup finals, which will be held 5th December in Riyadh.

Commenting, Hamza El Shaer, Marketing Manager, Bidfood KSA said, “The Saudi Monin Cup will provide an opportunity for beverage specialists to live out the passion they have for their profession, push their creative boundaries and demonstrate their competencies and skills in KSA’s fast-growing F&B industry. The competition also aims to encourage and promote high standards, professionalism and expertise in the industry.”

The competition is now in its final stages and the three winners will compete on the 5th of December 2019 for the finals in Riyadh. This event is sponsored by the Saudi Arabian Chef Association presided over by Chef Yasser Jad, who will also be part of the judging panel.
